A Link Between Animal Abuse and Human Violence

RIT Inn & Conference Center  5257 W. Henrietta Rd. Henrietta, NY 14467

Pets can’t speak up for themselves; so when the worst happens, it’s up to us to lead the fight against animal cruelty. Law enforcement, veterinarians, and judicial experts work together every day to hold those who abuse animals accountable for their crimes. It’s a complex and collaborative system, and we’re providing an inside look.

Understanding the link between animal abuse and violence against children and families is a key factor in preventing future crimes. Animal abuse frequently is an indicator and predictor of interpersonal violence, particularly in domestic violence and child maltreatment scenarios.

Registration: $25. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Tickets must be purchased individually following the link below. If you are registering five or more people from your organization, please contact Esca Stumpf at 585-223-1330 x 139.

Plastics: Pelagic Peril Exhibition

Conference House Park Visitor Center in Conference House Park   298 Satterlee Street  Staten Island, NY  10307   718-984-6046

This exhibition focuses on the serious problem of ocean trash that affects the health of people, marine life, and local economies. It also features poignant images of marine life by local artists. The exhibition enumerates specific actions that ordinary people can take to protect and conserve the world’s oceans.

More than 12 million volunteers over three decades with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup have collected over 220 million pounds of trash, having picked up everything imaginable along the world’s shorelines: cigarette butts, food wrappers, abandoned fishing gear, kitchen appliances, and even automobiles. Trash in the water & on the shore can kill marine animals, injure swimmers and beachgoers, and ensnare boat propellers. Learn more

New York State Retriever Rescue, Inc (NYSRR) is a not for profit organization comprised of a network of volunteers. These devoted individuals are dedicated to locating homes for retrievers in need that represent the kind nature and spirit commonly associated with Labrador and Golden Retrievers: affability, gentleness and a peaceful, loving temperament. The organization also offers services to those who are unable to care for their dog. Our mission is to provide veterinary care for any and all dogs prior to being placed in loving homes.

Enjoy live entertainment, over 250 craft and specialty vendors, a large festival food court with delicious apple treats and more. A family fun zone with a pumpkin patch, discounted rides, petting zoo, pony rides and free crafts will be on site. Show off your skills in the Apple Culinary and Scarecrow Contests.
